The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In 1970, the Senate Committee on Public Schools (1970-1973) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws.  It reviewed legislation on school management and organization; elementary and secondary education; school finance; and teacher certification.  Previously, the Senate Committee on Education had reviewed legislation on all aspects of education.  From 1970 to 1973, the Senate established three education committees:  Public Schools; Vocational and Technical Education; and Universities and Community Colleges.  In 1973, these committees were remerged into the Senate Committee on Education.
Summary:     This series contains the records of the Senate Committee on Public Schools from 1971 to 1972.  The tapes document committee and subcommittee meetings and contain discussion on school management and organization; elementary and secondary education; school finance; and teacher certification.  The tapes are not transcribed or indexed.
