Biographical/Historical:     In 1980, the Senate Committee on Personnel, Retirement, and Collective Bargaining (1980-present) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws.  The Committee reviewed legislation on state and local government retirement systems and employee benefits; collective bargaining; equal employment opportunity; job training; and personnel management.  Prior to 1980, its functions were exercised by:  the Senate Committee on Personnel, Retirement, and Claims (1970-1973); the Senate Committee on Way and Means (1973-1976); the Senate Committee on Personnel, Retirement, and Collective Bargaining (1976-1978); and the Senate Committee on Ways and Means (1978-1980). These Committees also reviewed claims or relief bills; since 1980, the Senate Committee on Finance, Taxation and Claims has reviewed claims.
Summary:     This series contains audiotaped recordings of the Senate Committee on Personnel, Retirement, and Collective Bargaining (1976-1977; 1981-1994), and its predecessor, the Senate Committee on Personnel, Retirement, and Claims (1971-1972).  The tapes document committee and subcommittee meetings and contain discussion on legislation on state and local government retirement systems and employee benefits; collective bargaining; equal employment opportunity; job training; and personnel management.
