	Biographical/Historical:	In 1973, the Senate Committee on Governmental Operations (1973-1995, 2007 - ) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws. In 2008, the name of the committee was changed to the Policy and Steering Committee on Governmental Operations. The Committee reviews legislation on state and local government organization and operations. Earlier committees that handled these functions were: Senate Committee on Governmental Reorganization (1964-1968); Senate Committee on Governmental Organization (1968-1970); and Senate Committee on Governmental Efficiency (1970-1972).
	Summary:	This series contains audiotaped recordings of the Senate Committee on Governmental Operations (1973-1994, 2007 ), the Policy and Steering Committee on Governmental Operations (2008- ), and its predecessor, the Senate Committee on Governmental Efficiency (1972). The recordings document committee and subcommittee meetings and contain discussion on legislation pertaining to local and state government organization and operations; administrative agencies; state office buildings; and open government sunset reviews. In 1995 the functions of this committee were taken over by the Senate Committee on Governmental Reform and Oversight. The recordings are not transcribed or indexed.
