In 1968, the Senate Committee on Rules and Calendar became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws. The Committee is responsible for setting the regular, special order, local bill, and consent legislative calendars and committee meeting schedules. It reviews most bills, with particular emphasis on all types of resolutions and revisor's bills. It also considers rule changes, points of order, and ethics complaints.

This series contains the records of the Senate Committee on Rules and Calendar (1969-1970, 1973-2006), Rules, Calendar, Privileged Business and Ethics (1971-1972), Select Committee on the Executive Suspension of Diane B. Rowden (1994), Special Order Calendar Group (2007-2010, 2014-2023), and Rules (2006-2011). The records include bill files, meeting files, and subject files. Records document legislation pertaining to setting the regular, special order, local bill, and consent legislative calendars and committee meeting schedules. They also cover the Committee's review of most bills, with particular emphasis on all types of resolutions and revisor's bills, and its consideration of rule changes, points of order, and ethics complaints.
