	Biographical/Historical:	In 1988, the Senate Committee on Health Care (1988-1990, 1993-2000, 2005-2006) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws. The Committee took over some of the functions of the Senate Committee on Health and Rehabilitative Services. The Committee reviewed legislation on health care and medical services. In 1990, the Committee was abolished, and it became a subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Health and Rehabilitative Services. In 1993, the Committee was re-established as the Senate Committee on Health Care. In 2001, the Senate Committee on Health Care was renamed the Senate Committee on Health, Aging, and Long-Term Care. In 2006, the committee was renamed the Senate Committee on Health Policy.
	Summary:	This series contains the records of the Senate Committee on Health Policy (2006- ). Also included are the records for the Senate Committee on Health Care (1988-1990, 1993-1998, 2004-2006); the Senate Committee on Health, Aging, and Long-Term Care (1998-2004); the Senate Select Committee on Medicaid Reform (2005-2006); and the Senate Select Committee on Patient Protection and the Affordable Care Act (2012-2014). The records include bill files, meeting files, and subject files. It documents legislation on comprehensive health care planning; public health services; health facilities and nursing homes; health maintenance organizations; medical care and practices; medical education and research; elderly and indigent health care; and health care costs.
