	Biographical/Historical:	In 1970, the Senate Committee on Governmental Efficiency (1970-1972) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws. It reviewed legislation on local and state government organization and operations. It assumed the functions of the Senate Committee on Governmental Organization (1968-1970). The Committee also carried on the work of the Senate Committee on Governmental Reorganization, which had been created in 1964 to examine and reorganize the executive branch of the state government. The resulting legislation was passed in 1969 as the Governmental Reorganization Act (Ch. 69-106, Laws).
	Summary:	This series contains the records of the Senate Committee on Governmental Efficiency from 1970 to 1972. It includes records from 1965 to 1970 of its predecessor committees, the Senate Committee on Governmental Reorganization and the Senate Committee on Governmental Organization. The records include meeting files and subject files. It documents legislation on local and state government organization and operations. It also includes several bill files related to Senate Bill 650 (Ch. 69-106) on the reorganization of the executive branch of the state government into departments.
