	Biographical/Historical:	In 1990, the Senate Committee on Executive Business, Ethics and Elections became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws. The Committee reviews legislation on elections laws, financial disclosure, and code of ethics for public officers and government employees. It also reviews all executive appointments and suspensions, and makes recommendations for Senate confirmation. The Committee was created by merging the Senate Committee on Ethics and Elections (1988-1990) and the Senate Committee on Executive Business (1976-1990). Prior to 1976, the Senate Select Committee on Executive Suspensions carried out the functions of the Senate Committee on Executive Business.

The records include bill files, meeting files, subject files, and correspondence. The series also contains materials relating to appointments and suspensions which predate the creation of the committees. It documents legislation on voter registration, election laws, financial disclosure, and code of ethics for public officers and government employees. It reports the recommendations made to the Senate regarding confirmation of appointments and suspensions.
