The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In 1994, the Senate Committee on Banking and Insurance became a standing committee with a permanent staff. The committee heard legislation concerning the regulation of state chartered financial institutions; credit, debt, and lending activities; securities; money services businesses; insurance companies, insurance agencies, and insurance products.
Summary:     This series contains the records of the Committee on Banking and Insurance (1995-2011), Select Committee on Gaming (1993-1994), Legislative Working Group for Residual Markets, Workman's Compensation Workgroup (2003), Joint Select Committee on Worker's Compensation Rating (2003), Select Committee on Automobile Insurance PIP/Reform (2003), Joint Select Committee on Hurricane Insurance (2005), and Windstorm Mitigation Study Commission (2007). The records include bill files, meeting files, correspondence, and subject files. The records document legislation dealing with health insurance, life insurance, medical malpractice, workers compensation, insurance fraud, funeral and cemetery services, financial institutions, mortgage brokers and lenders, and securities transactions.
