Biographical/Historical:     Chapter 89-294, Laws of Florida - established the Florida Commission on Aging.  This Commission was named the Claude Denson Pepper Commission on Aging and was known as the Pepper Commission on Aging.  The purpose of the Commission was to review and make recommendations regarding state policies and programs relating to the elderly. Of particular concern were the areas of housing, employment, medical care, long-term care, preventive care, social services, mental health, insurance and transportation.
Summary:     This series consists of correspondence and meeting files of the Florida Pepper Commission on Aging which were maintained by the Secretary of the Office of Elder Affairs.  The files contain meeting minutes and agendas as well as related attachments including reports, budget reviews, correspondence, newsletters, and newspaper clippings.  Subject matter includes reports related to elderly care, mental health, long-term care and Alzheimer's Disease.
