Summary:     The series consists of correspondence, reports, and financial records, 1973-1979, of the Regional Planning Councils which reported to the Dept. of Community Affairs.  The Councils engaged in comprehensive and functional planning and administered certain federal and state grants-in-aid.  The Councils were created by the Florida Regional Planning Council Act of 1959 (Ch. 59-369, Laws).
    The records reflect the activity of the Northwest Florida Planning and Advisory Council, the West Florida Regional Planning Council, the North Central Florida Planning Council, the Withlacoochee Regional Planning Council, the East Central Florida Regional Planning council, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council, and the South Florida Regional Planning Council.
