Biographical/Historical:     The State of Florida Correctional Medical Authority was created in 1986 (Ch. 86-183, Laws) to assist in the delivery of health care services for inmates in the Dept. of Corrections.  Its duties are to advise the department on the professional conduct of primary, convalescent, dental, and mental health care; to resolve medical treatment disputes; to recommend a budget for the operation of the prison health care system; to approve contracts for health care services; and to assist in the development of prison health care programs.
Summary:     The series contains the minutes of the Correctional Medical Authority from 1986 to 1995.  It documents the topics of discussion, decisions made, and actions taken by the Authority to provide health care services for inmates in the correctional facilities of the Dept. of Corrections.  The records include agenda, minutes, meeting files, planning files, reports, budgets, and meeting audiotapes.  It includes the meeting files of its Budget and Personnel Subcommittee and Mental Health Committee.
