	Biographical/Historical:	The Task Force for the Review of the Criminal Justice and Corrections Systems was established in the Office of the Attorney General by Laws of Florida Chapter 93-404 to conduct an overall study of the criminal justice and corrections systems in Florida, including the management and operational efficiency of the systems; laws relating to sentencing and release of criminals; parole and probation; alternatives to imprisonment such as community service, drug and alcohol treatment, or other programs; possible privatization of the institutional system; and other related issues. The task force was directed to make recommendations to the legislature and submit its final report by January 15, 1995.
	Summary:	This series consists of the files of Task Force Executive Director Brian Berkowitz, including correspondence, mailouts to task force members, meeting agendas and minutes, audio cassette tape recordings of task force meetings, and policy papers, which together document the study and analysis activities of the task force. The correspondence is mostly routine letters between the task force and individuals and organizations involved in such areas as law enforcement, human services, and youth services. Included are some reports and other materials discussing issues before the task force. Mailouts to task force members consist of materials sent to prepare members for upcoming meetings, including reports, proposals, recommendations, articles, and other materials. Policy papers discuss issues before the task force such as intermediate criminal sanctions and transfer of juveniles to the adult system. The policy papers provide an overview of the issues, policy considerations, research findings, and task force recommendations. Meeting files include minutes of meetings, meeting agendas, and background materials regarding issues discussed at the meetings.
