The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Florida Drug Abuse Prevention and Education Trust was established in January 1974 to fund the personnel training needs of substance abuse programs and related human service professions throughout the state.  The Attorney General and the Secretary of the Dept. of Health and Rehabilitative Services served as court appointed trustees of the fund; advised on investment of funds by three investment advisors; and counseled on program planning and budgeting by a twelve-member Advisory Commission.  The Trust was committed to funding training programs in three areas: establishment of academic curricula to provide training; disbursement of scholarship monies to students committed to careers in the field; and development of in-service training and preventive-education workshops.  The objective of these programs was to increase effectiveness of community drug abuse prevention, education and treatment programs.
Summary:     The series contains the records of the Florida Drug Abuse Prevention and Education Trust from 1976 to 1979.  It  consists of grant files, subject files, administrative files, minutes, workshop data, cottage industry, and demonstration project files.
