Summary:     This series contains the records, dated 1935-1945, of the Emergency Coordinator of Mines for Florida.  During World War II, minerals such as phosphate, limestone, dolomite, gypsum, and kaolin were reserved for war use.  Most mining contracts were government-related.  To coordinate the production of these vital minerals, former State Geologist Herman Gunter was appointed Emergency Coordinator of Mines in 1941.  The series primarily contains correspondence to and from Gunter.
