The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Summary:     This series contains the minutes of the State Board of Education from 1869 to 1973.  The minutes document members present, topics discussed, and actions taken.  The Board administered the state public colleges until the creation of the Board of Control in 1905; therefore, the minutes also document the early development of the State University System.  Volume 1 contains the minutes of the 1870 organizational meeting of the trustees of the Florida Agricultural School, the facilities of which later became the University of Florida.
    The series also contains separate card indexes to volumes 5-11. Volumes 12-16 contain an index at the beginning of each volume.  The supplemental minutes and agenda, beginning with 1974, are in Series 271.
