The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Commission on the Future of Florida's Public Universities was created in 1977 by Chancellor E.T. York of the Board of Regents to reassess the role of the State University System of Florida in serving the citizens of Florida.  Comprised of citizens, faculty, and students from all over the state, the Commission members represented various segments of the educational community, including public schools, community colleges, and private universities. Donald Reed, Jr. chaired the Commission and the staff of the Board of Regents provided administrative support.  The broad issues it examined were quality, access, and financing of higher education. Its recommendations were published in a report in 1978 entitled "Quality Universities to Serve Florida's Future."
Summary:     This series contains the records of the Commission on the Future of Florida's Public Universities from 1977 to 1978.  The records include correspondence, reports, studies, and recommendations.  It documents the actions taken and decisions made by the Commission in its assessment of higher education in Florida.
