The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Council of Presidents was created by the Board of Control as the Interinstitutional Committee for the universities in the State University System of Florida.  It was renamed the Interinstitutional Council of Presidents in 1957 and became known as the Council of Presidents in 1959.  The meetings are attended by all the presidents of the state universities and a member of the Board of Regents, formerly Board of Control, usually the Chancellor and the Corporate Secretary.
Summary:     This series contains the minutes of the Council of Presidents from 1954 to 1978.  The records document topics discussed, members present, and actions taken.  In addition to minutes, the series also includes agenda, memoranda, and correspondence.  Topics covered are appointments, budgets, polices, and programs of the State University System of Florida.
