Biographical/Historical:     The Professional Practices Council, part of the Dept. of Education, assumed the responsibilities of the Professional Practices Commission which was created in 1963 (Ch. 63-363, Laws). The Commission was given the initial responsibility of developing codes and standards for the teaching profession and making recommendations to the State Board of Education on rules and regulations on professional practices.  It also investigated and made recommendations regarding violations of the standards by members of the teaching profession.  The Council was replaced in 1980 by the Education Practices Commission and the Education Standards Commission (Ch. 80-190, Laws).
Summary:     The series contains the minutes of the Professional Practices Council and its predecessor, the Professional Practices Commission, from 1964 to 1980.  The records include topics discussed, decisions made, and actions taken by the Council.  Also included are the minutes of the Executive Committee of the Professional Practices Council.
