The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The post of Hotel Commissioner was created in 1913 (Ch. 6475, Laws of Florida) to inspect public lodging.  The Hotel Commission was created in 1915 (Ch. 6952, Laws) to inspect public lodging and restaurants. The Commission was renamed the Hotel and Restaurant Commission in 1953 (Ch. 28129, Laws).  In 1969 (Ch. 69-106, Laws), the Commission was superseded by the Division of Hotels and Restaurants in  the Department of Business Regulation.
