The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Division of Accounting and Auditing was formally established in 1983 (Ch. 83-132, Laws) as part of the Dept. of Banking and Finance.  In 1969 (Ch. 69-106, Laws), the duties of the Comptroller's Office were passed to the Dept. of Banking and Finance, includiong the auditing function.  The Division of Accounting and Auditing was responsible for auditing all proposed state expenditures and all monies disbursed by the state, including employee payrolls.  It also received the financial reports of county and local governments.  On January 7, 2003, this function was transferred to the new Department of Financial Services, which resulted from the merger of the departments of Banking & Finance and Insurance.
