The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Florida Pari-mutuel Commission was established in 1978 (Ch. 78-131, Laws) under the Department of Business Regulation. Its duties are to approve the racing days and dates at pari-mutuel facilities; to hear appeals related to the suspension or revocation of pari-mutuel wagering licenses; and to make recommendations to the Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering. Previously, these duties were performed by the Florida State Racing Commission which was created in 1931 (Ch. 14832, Laws) and abolished in 1971 (Ch. 71-98, Laws).  Between 1971 and 1978, the Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering in the Dept. of Business Regulation performed these commission activities.
