The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Department of Business Regulation was created in 1969 (Ch. 69-106, Laws).  It assumed the duties of the State Racing Commission, the Florida Installment Land Sales Board, the State Beverage Department, the Department of Hotels and Restaurants, the yacht and ship broker licensing duties of the Board of Conservation, the Secretary of State's duties regarding the regulation of labor organizations and court reporters, the Labor Business Agents Licensing Board, and the elevator inspection duties of the Industrial Commission.
    The department oversees horse tracks, dog tracks, and jai alai frontons, including the issuance of permits and licenses, and the setting of operation dates.  It regulates the sales of condominiums, land, and mobile home parks; licenses and inspects hotels, restaurants, and elevators; and oversees the cigarette and alcoholic beverage trade.
