The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The State Planning Board was created in 1935 (Ch. 17275, 1935; Ch. 20518, 1941, Laws) and consisted of five members:  the Secretary of State, the Chairman of the State Road Department, and three citizens.  The Board created and adopted a master plan for the physical development of Florida.  It also assembled and studied data pertaining to the state, its citizens, natural resources, and economic development.  The Board advised the state legislature, state administrative officers, and citizens on plans for future development.  The Board ceased to function prior to its official repeal in 1951 (Ch. 26484, Laws).
