The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Dept. of the Lottery was created in 1987 (Ch. 87-65, Laws). The Florida Public Education Lottery Act implemented Article X, Section 15 of the State Constitution which was adopted by the people of Florida in the general election of 1986.  The Florida Lottery began ticket sales in January 1988, implementing computerized, on-line games in April 1988.  The net proceeds of the lottery games are to be used to support improvements in public education and not as a substitute for existing resources.
