The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Florida Legislature created the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) with enactment of the Juvenile Justice Act of 1994 to provide a full range of programs and services to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency in partnership with families, schools, communities, businesses, law enforcement and other agencies (Chapter 94-209, Laws of Florida). The newly created agency absorbed the powers, funding and personnel of the HRS Division of Youth Services, and also assumed responsibility for overseeing juvenile delinquency cases and children and families in need of services (CINS/FINS) cases. DJJ is headed by a Secretary appointed by the governor and who shares leadership duties with the Deputy Secretary.
