The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Florida Children's Commission was created in 1947 (Ch. 23810, Laws of Florida) to research the needs of the state's children and youth; to review legislation concerning children and youth; to appraise the availability, accessibility, and adequacy of services for children and youth; and to encourage and foster local community action through County Children's Committees.  The Commission provided no actual services; its main function was to be a clearinghouse and coordinator for other agencies.  The Commission was abolished in 1969 (Ch. 69-106, Laws).
