The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical Note:     The Florida State Advertising Commission was created in 1945 (1945, Ch. 22558, Laws of Florida).  Its duties were to build and create industries; to promote commerce and the sale of Florida products; to encourage employment and raise the earnings of Floridians; and to encourage tourism.  The commission carried out these duties through a program of information, advertising, and publicity about the state.  The commission was abolished in 1955 (1955, Ch. 29788, Laws) and its duties  transferred to the Florida Development Commission.
