The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Description: Brigadier General Marianne Mathewson-Chapman was born in Sabetha, Kansas, and attended six universities, including University of San Diego (B.S. Nursing, 1977), University of California (M.S. Nursing, 1979), and University of Florida (PhD Nursing, 1995). Mathewson-Chapman joined the Navy Nurse Corps as a battalion surgeon in 1970 and entered the Army Reserves National Guard as a First Lieutenant in 1975. On January 15, 1997, she was promoted to Brigadier General, the first woman to achieve the rank of General in the ARNG. Mathewson-Chapman retired from the National Guard in 2002 as a Major General, having most recently been assigned as Deputy Surgeon General/Special Assistant for Army National Guard. She received the Bronze Star Medal, Army and Army Reserve Component Achievement Medals, National Defense Service Medal, along with several other awards for her military service, and was inducted into the Florida Women's Hall of Fame in 2000.
